To all San Diego soccer and sports fans, As most...

To all San Diego soccer and sports fans,

As most of you know, we continue working hard to bring you, the people, what you have been asking for: a practical and economically viable solution to the current problem at the Mission Valley site and a Major League Soccer team to San Diego! In our attempt to do what we believe is great for the city and the people of San Diego, we have repeatedly tried to include SDSU in our project to build a brand new stadium for them to share with us, provide land for them to expand their campus, provide student housing and many other things they have asked for. Unfortunately, they have decided that they don’t want to partner with us and would like the land given to them. While I don’t personally believe that a city should give away its public land to the State of California, I have to respect the leadership at SDSU for trying. Coming from a family of teachers (my grandmother, mother, and sister are all teachers), I strongly support education and understand the undeniable value it provides our communities. That being said, as a taxpayer of the City of San Diego, I simply wouldn’t support the Mission Valley site being given away to SDSU.

The reason I am so passionate about this project is because I have spent the past year listening to the people of San Diego tell me how badly they want to see something get done in this city. Something that will give the people another sports team to root for; a beautiful River Park that the community has been begging for for decades; a sports and entertainment district that gives people the opportunity to leave their stressful lives behind for a few hours and enjoy nature, a soccer game, play pick-up sports in the parks, etc.

I sent out a video last week letting you know that it’s game time and we need to go fight for what we want. Well, the game has started and it appears that we'll have to go up against the opposing developers without cooperation from SDSU. It feels like we're starting the game a player down. That’s fine with me, the odds have been stacked against me my entire life but, with your love and support, I was able to succeed. We could run from this battle and make excuses as to why we are fighting an unfair fight. But I’d rather win in the face of adversity and show San Diego that we CAN get something done in this town. That we DO believe in progress. That we, the people, will fight for what we want and deserve. We will need every single one of you to help make this happen and will have more info on the @SoccerCitySD Facebook page soon. I’m all in and fully committed to beating the odds and making history.......

ARE YOU ALL IN WITH ME?!?
