Dear SoccerCity Supporters,
Now that we’ve had a few days to process, I want to thank each and every one of you who gave so much to try to make SoccerCity a reality. At the end of the day, the people had the opportunity to vote and that’s all we can ask for in a Democracy.
Congratulations to SDSU West. We certainly had our differences about the competing initiatives but, as San Diegans, we should all be rooting for that development to succeed in the timeline that’s been promised. For the sake of SDSU Football and San Diego taxpayers, It’s important that something gets done at that site and in a timely fashion.
Many of you are wondering what the next steps might be as it pertains to Major League Soccer in San Diego. At this point, there are no answers. All we can do is hope that Major League Soccer keeps San Diego in mind for future opportunities to join the league.
Lastly, although the outcome wasn’t what we wanted, the journey made it more than worthwhile. Getting to know so many passionate people in this city has brought me tremendous joy. Please know that I remain 100% committed to growing soccer in America’s Finest City and that this certainly isn’t the end for us.
